CRKT - Columbia River Knife and Tool M4-13 - M4 Combo Edge with Assist - Custom knifemaker and Knifemakers’ Guild member Kit Carson is widely known for his M16 design, which is offered in many CRKT production models. But since 1990, Kit’s most consistent selling custom model has been his classic M4. In his usual unassuming manner, Kit says, -I guess you’d say it’s my flagship custom. It’s simple, with form following function. No tricks that look slick but aren’t worth a flip in your hand. I’ve made many variations on it, from exotic collectibles to working tacticals, in maybe 20 versions. But I still get more and more calls to make the M4.-

So here is the production CRKT M4 that you can afford to carry every day, anywhere. Features include: OutBurst assisted opening as an option, and the exclusive AutoLAWKS safety which automatically actuates when the folder is opened and locked, creating a virtual fixed blade instantly for the ultimate in safety.

Traditionalists can buy the M4 as a conventional non-assisted opener, while the more progressive can choose our patented OutBurst assisted opening mechanism, which instantly springs the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30 degrees. Both styles have dual thumb studs for ambidextrous one-hand opening and bronze and Teflon bearings at the adjustable blade pivot for smooth, fast action.

The blade is a high-hollow-grind drop point of premium AUS 8 stainless steel in a bead-blast finish. Both Razor-Sharp and the Combined Razor-Sharp and Veff Serrated edges are available. Developed by Oregon City, Oregon, knife designer Tom Veff, these serrations are wide and angled at 60 degrees to the edge. The resulting cutting points bite instantly and dig deep upon contact, slicing smoothly and effortlessly.

Our heavy-duty InterFrame build is true to the Kit design, with dual stainless steel liners, one locking, and a 6061 T6 anodized aluminum back spacer. Brushed stainless steel bolsters are inset with textured black Zytel scales. Finally a high-mounted pocket/gear clip allows low in-pocket carry.

So here you have a friendly work knife that fits the hand naturally for all kinds of cutting and carving tasks. Like Kit, it is a bit unassuming, but it is a knife you will come back to year after year.
