As mentioned by Jacques Peppin in the June 25, 2006, edition of the NY Times Magazine, an Opinel knife makes a nice pocket companion for everyday use. Originally created by Joseph Opinel in 1890, the modern knives' carbon steel blades are set in attractive beechwood handles. All knives, except sizes smaller than the OP6, feature Opinel's signature locking ring that holds the blade in place with a simple twist while open or closed.
